While I think it was a good idea for the Padres to move Scott Linebrink, the centerpiece of their return, Will Inman, is a player that statistically oriented organizations might overvalue at this current time. Inman has posted up pretty impressive peripheral statistics but when we look at the statistics I found were useful predictive statistics in the minors from my previous post, Inman loses some of his shine.
Hi A- BAC- .303, HR/9 IP- 0.64
AA (39.2 IP)- .362, HR/9 IP- 1.66
The Hi A stats aren't bad, but Inman's AA stats rival Josh Towers. Given the AA stats have been under a short sample size, I still have to lean towards the more skeptical scouts on Inman's performance. It looks like the Padres might have on their hands another Justin Germano, which has its uses. I still rate this as a win for the Padres but temper your expectations on Inman for now.
